When I first landed in Accra, I was excited, clueless, and completely unprepared for the housing hunt. My budget was modest, but I wanted something clean, safe, and preferably close to town.
After a few days of asking around, I discovered that most rentals required 1 or 2 years’ advance payment—a big shock! Luckily, I met a helpful local agent who guided me to a shared apartment near Dansoman. It wasn’t flashy, but it was secure, had constant water, and fit my budget.
Lesson learned: Always use a trusted agent and ask about utility availability like water, light, and internet before paying anything. And oh—inspect the place in person!
